Study Webs of Active-Learning for Young Aspiring Minds (SWAYAM)
SWAYAM (Study Webs of Active- Learning for Young Aspiring Minds) is a programme initiated by Government of India under the aegis of the National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NME-ICT) which is accessible at http://swayam.gov.in/ . It is designed to achieve the three cardinal principles of National Education Policy 2020 viz., access, equity and quality. The objective of this effort is to take the best teaching learning resources to all, including the most disadvantaged. SWAYAM seeks to bridge the digital divide for students who have hitherto remained untouched by the digital revolution and have not been able to join the mainstream of the knowledge economy.
National Education Policy, 2020 (23.6) highlights SWAYAM as a online platform for the integration of teaching-learning practices “Technology-based education platforms, such as DIKSHA/SWAYAM, will be integrated across school and higher education and will include ratings/reviews by users, so as to enable content developers to create user friendly and qualitative content”.
NCERT offers 28 online courses for classes XI and XII across 11 subjects (Accountancy, Business Studies, Biology, Chemistry, Economic, English Geography, Mathematics, Physics, Psychology, and Sociology).
NCERT Courses available on the SWAYAM portal follows the four-quadrant approach:
1. Video lecture
2. e-content: specially prepared reading material that can be downloaded/printed
3. Self-assessment tests through tests and quizzes
4. An online discussion forum for clearing the doubts.
